Quick Overview
Credit unions were built on a simple promise: know your members, serve them well, and earn their trust for life.
That promise hasn’t changed, but your members’ expectations around it have. They want instant answers, frictionless service, and personalized experiences 24/7. Meeting that bar at scale, across every channel, requires intelligence built into the experience itself.
That’s exactly what Eltropy AI set out to build, and the results speak for themselves. Over 750 credit unions across all 50 states now rely on the Eltropy Agentic AI Platform to serve their members faster, smarter, and with more genuine human connection.
We caught up with the man behind that vision, Saahil Kamath, Eltropy’s VP of Product & Head of AI, to understand what makes the Eltropy AI the go-to AI solution for credit unions, the hard decisions that come with building AI trusted with members’ financial lives, and where he sees the industry heading next.
If you want to understand what Eltropy AI can do for your institution, this is where to start. Let’s get into it!
Q: What inspired Eltropy’s AI philosophy, and how does that translate into real value for credit unions and the members they serve?
Saahil: Eltropy’s AI philosophy has always been rooted in the simple but powerful idea – “Financial Access For All.” We see AI as a tool, not a strategy – Something designed thoughtfully to automate the mundane while augmenting more complex tasks, but always keeping the human element central and safety first. When AI is interacting with people’s financial accounts, it must operate responsibly and with strong guardrails.
At its core, our belief is simple: AI should strengthen relationships, not replace them. Credit unions succeed because they are trusted advisors to their members, and our goal is to amplify that trust at scale. That’s why we design AI to work alongside humans, handling routine requests instantly while surfacing the right insights and context the moment a conversation calls for empathy or expertise.
In practice, this translates into real outcomes for credit unions: faster resolution for everyday banking requests, reduced call center load and lower operational costs, and more bandwidth for employees to focus on the complex member needs that truly matter.
Eltropy AI becomes a force multiplier for service, not a replacement for it.
Q: What makes Eltropy AI fundamentally different from other AI solutions in the industry?
Saahil: Three things set Eltropy AI apart. First, it’s purpose-built for community finance. It understands credit union workflows, compliance requirements, and the unique ways members interact with their community financial institutions.
Second, we’re focused on agentic AI, not just chatbots. Eltropy AI Agents can take real actions across systems – authenticating members securely, activating cards, executing transaction lookups. That’s a fundamentally different capability than a bot that fields questions and hands off to a human.
Third, it’s deeply integrated into the communication channels and core systems that credit unions already rely on. Voice, text, chat, and video are unified on the Eltropy platform, so AI becomes part of the member experience rather than something bolted on as an afterthought. The result is AI that actually resolves problems and takes action, not just answers questions.
Q. Which upcoming AI capability are you most excited about, and why does it matter for credit unions?
Saahil: I’m particularly excited about the ability to build custom workflows and skills into both member-facing and employee-facing AI. This allows AI to not only converse intelligently but also take action on routine tasks while following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
We’re also moving toward an agentic architecture with specialized skills and sub-agents. Instead of a single assistant trying to do everything, we create specialized AI sub-agents, such as authentication agents or account services agents that collaborate to resolve member requests end-to-end.
This approach allows credit unions to automate complex workflows securely, expand AI capabilities rapidly through a skills marketplace, and deliver faster and more accurate resolutions to members. It’s essentially the shift from AI that talks to AI that works.
Q. What’s your one piece of advice for a credit union just starting to explore AI?
Saahil: Start with member experience problems, not technology.
The most successful AI deployments begin by asking: Where are our members experiencing friction today? It might be long wait times, routine inquiries, or authentication delays – AI can solve those problems quickly and create immediate value.
Once institutions see impact in one area, adoption naturally expands across the organization. AI transformation doesn’t happen overnight; it happens through small, meaningful wins that compound over time.
Q. How does the Eltropy AI Certification prepare credit unions for the contact center dynamics of 2026 and beyond?
Saahil: Member expectations are evolving rapidly. By 2026, members will expect instant, personalized, and always-available service across every channel. The Eltropy AI Certification is designed to help credit union leaders and teams understand how to operate in this new environment.
The program covers AI fundamentals for financial services, how agentic AI works in real-world credit union workflows, responsible AI practices and governance, and practical strategies to deploy AI across member experience and employee productivity. Our goal is to ensure credit unions don’t just adopt AI tools; they develop the internal expertise to lead in an AI-driven future.
The Conversation Doesn’t Stop Here – See Saahil at EMERGE 2026!
Saahil Kamath is leading one of the most ambitious AI teams in fintech that is pioneering a new era of intelligent, responsible, human-centered banking for credit unions, and at EMERGE 2026, he’s bringing that to you.
Agentic AI is no longer theoretical. It’s making decisions, personalizing service, and serving members at a scale that community finance hasn’t achieved before. But with that power comes a question every credit union leader needs to answer: how do you ensure the AI actually reflects your values?
At EMERGE 2026, Saahil will take that question head-on in his session, ‘Safe AI: Preserving Trust in the Age of Autonomy’ – a deep dive into the design principles, governance frameworks, and guardrails that make AI transparent, ethical, and accountable.
If you want to go even deeper into AI? Get AI-Certified at Emerge! Eltropy’s AI experts are running a hands-on certification program built for every role in community finance. You’ll walk away with the clarity, frameworks, and confidence to build and deploy AI that your members and institution can stand behind.
